Class in Japanese art forms April 12 at Pickens County Museum

The Pickens County Museum will offer a “SUMINIGASHI & SUMI-E” class from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 12 at the Liz Smith-Cox Educational Studio. The class is designed for adults 18 and above.

Suminigashi marbles paper by “floating ink” a process that originated in 12th century Japan; Sumi-e uses bamboo-handled brushes with sumi (ink) to create deceptively simple paintings. Learn about Japanese papers and Asian art forms from instructor Christina Laurel.

Materials will be provided. Class size is minimum four students, maximum eight. Pre-registration is required and must be paid by April 10.
